Vanilla cauliflower protein smoothie

Vanilla cauliflower protein smoothie

I know what you are thinking - cauliflower in a smoothie - yuck! However, please believe me when I say you really can’t taste the cauliflower and you get all the cruciferous vegetable benefits. I buy packs of frozen cauliflower rice and keep in the freezer as a useful and very easy meal side. If you haven’t got vanilla protein powder then use your normal protein powder and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract for the vanilla flavour. I often freeze cut up bananas that are going brown in the fruit bowl and they are great for adding to smoothies.

ingredients

makes 1 smoothie

1.5 tbsp chia seeds
200ml almond milk
100g frozen cauliflower rice
1 banana (fresh or frozen)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 tbsp almond butter
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp shelled hemp seeds to top

method

  • Place the chia seeds in a high speed blender and blend until crushed. Add all the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth. You might need more or less almond milk depending on how thick you like your smoothie.

  • Pour in a glass or bowl and add the shelled hemp seeds.

the health boost tip

For this recipe we used Nuzest’s clean lean vanilla protein powder. 1 scoop should provide about 12g protein. Do make sure to chose your protein powder wisely to address your nutritional needs. Seek professional help from a qualified practitioner before adding superfood powders or supplements.
